LLCC’s Bookstore, in conjunction with Career Development Services, is hosting a Book Fair on Tuesday, March 4 and Wednesday, March 5, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Book Fair is being held in A. Lincoln Commons and is featuring cookbooks, historical, self-help and children’s books, gift items, LLCC clothing, greeting cards and more. Students, staff and faculty are welcome to attend. Proceeds will benefit students in crisis through the Career Development Student Emergency Fund. Cash, check, credit and debit cards are accepted. Career Services thanks you for your participation in this key fundraising event.

Scott Stallman, executive director LLCC-Taylorville, Litchfield & Hillsboro and Bob Howard, director truck driver training center, were interviewed on “Ask The Professional” on WTIM. Scott discussed the upcoming summer and fall semesters and Bob promoted the free transportation/logistics program for long term unemployed in addition to the regular truck driver training program.
Vagina Monologues tonight and Saturday night
The LLCC Feminist Activist Coalition presents the 9th annual production of Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” tonight and Saturday, Feb. 28 and March 1, at 7 p.m. in the Trutter Center.
Doors open at 6 p.m., with a pre-show beginning at 6:15. Tickets are available for $15 each ($10 for current LLCC students with I.D.) at the LLCC ticket office in Menard Hall, or at the door. The production, including 18 cast members, is directed by Dr. Deborah Brothers, professor of English.
The production is part of the “V-Day College Campaign” to raise awareness of issues related to violence against women and girls around the world. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Sojourn Center and Eve Ensler’s V-Day Foundation.
Paul Van Heuklom performs Native American flute concert this Sunday, March 2 in Recital Series
A Native American flute concert called “Dragonfly Dreams” will be presented by Paul Van Heuklom Sunday, March 2 as part of the LLCC Recital Series. The performance begins at 4 p.m. in the Trutter Center and is free and open to the public.
LLCC Arts and Humanities Professor Paul Van Heuklom is a member of the Sangamon Valley Flute Circle. Though he views the Native American flute primarily as a meditative and solo instrument, he has performed alone and with others at such diverse venues as the Decatur Lakeside Music and Arts Festival, the Mary Bryant Home for the Blind, Springfield High School Multicultural Festival, the LLCC Multicultural Festival, LLCC’s 2011 and 2012 Recital Series, and the Clinton 4th of July celebration.
The final recital in this year’s series will be Sunday, April 27 featuring Emerald Underground, a Celtic ensemble.
Culinary Programs participating in Illinois Products Expo
The Culinary Arts Program and Culinary Institute will be at the Illinois Products Expo this Sunday, March 2 in the Orr Building of the Illinois State Fair Grounds. Representatives Nancy Sweet, John Kidd, Jolene Adams and Jay Kitterman will be doing demonstrations, providing samples and promiting the Culinary programs available at LLCC from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please stop by and see us!

Message from Dr. Warren regarding PACE Climate Survey
As you know every three years the college administers a climate survey to provide data on perceptions of the college environment, and to help to inform us on what we are doing well and what may need some tweaking. In the fall the Personal Assessment of the College Environment (PACE) survey was administered for this purpose. We appreciate your input and look closely at the results. Your feedback is a part of continuous planning for improvements at the college. An example of that is something you will see formally announced soon in LincIN. Watch for the implementation of KUDOS, an opportunity to recognize faculty and staff for the many times they go out of their way to support our students and our operations. We will continue to analyze results and work toward improving the existing college climate.
