Reminder: ITS upgrading email system

ITS will be upgrading the college’s Exchange email system over spring break. The change should be transparent for users who are accessing email through Outlook or a mobile device. When accessing email through the web-based client, users will be presented with the same contemporary user interface that is currently provided to our students using office 365. We will be sending out more information once the upgrade is complete.

Today: 1st Thursday Speaker Series

Thursday, March 6: 1st Thursday Speaker Series, 7pm, hosted by the Trutter Museum.  The event features local experts discussing various aspects of architecture. Look for a story in the April Springfield Business Journal about laid off coal miners taking Truck Driver Training at LLCC in a class especially organized for them. Bob Howard, director, Truck Driver Training, was interviewed March 4 for the story, and six of the students will be interviewed soon.

Culinary Center Operations Manager Nancy Sweet, Culinary Instructor Jolene Adams, and Culinary Institute Director Jay Kitterman (who took the photo) provided cooking demonstrations at the annual Illinois Products Expo March 2 at the state fairgrounds.  They used Illinois products on display to make crepes.

Dean Butzow, professor, geography, was interviewed by WICS for the 10 p.m. and morning news on the weather spotting class hosted by LLCC last night.

Brad Gentry, police chief, spoke to FOX 55 News about LLCC’s smoking policy for a story to run on the morning program Good Day today. A number of students were asked to comment 0n proposed legislation that would ban smoking on college and university campuses in Illinois.

The SJ-R photographed Campus Visit Day for a story on college choice that runs in today’s paper.

Nancy Sweet, culinary operations manager, was a guest of Sam Madonia on AM Springfield yesterday. She spoke about Bistro Verde and the credit and non-credit culinary programs.

The AQIP steering team expresses appreciation to those who provided feedback at the AQIP poster sessions held over the past 3 weeks. Recipients of a $25 gift certificate to the LLCC Bookstore are Dawn Burch, Michelle Burger, Nichole Coffey, and Jamie Glick.
