College mourns loss of Lorie McDonald

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of LLCC-Litchfield Director Lorie McDonald due to a tragic accident Nov. 8. Lorie was a highly engaged leader, well-respected by her colleagues and students. She loved her job and was dedicated to serving LLCC and her community. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, loved ones, many friends and acquaintances, and the students she assisted and encouraged every day. Counselors will be available at LLCC-Litchfield through Thursday to assist students and employees in need of their services. – Charlotte Warren, Ph.D., President

Flags at all LLCC locations will be at half-mast through Wednesday, Nov. 14 in honor of Lorie.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 14 from 4-7 p.m. at Litchfield Family Funeral Service, 700 South State St. in Litchfield. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. at the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lorie McDonald Emergency Fund for LLCC-Litchfield which has been established with the LLCC Foundation.

EAP (Employee Assistance Program) counselors will be available at LLCC – Litchfield on Monday, Nov. 12. All LLCC employees can access EAP resources and services, including grief counseling. (See next item in LincIn.)

LLCC – Litchfield students will have access to counseling services at LLCC-Litchfield Monday (11/12) through Thursday (11/15) from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Additional hours may be added, including evening hours. A schedule of hours will be available at the LLCC-Litchfield front desk.

Lorie McDonald advised many students in Litchfield and those who take classes on the Springfield campus and other locations. A reminder that if you encounter a student in crisis and in need of counseling, call 786-9660.  A call to the counselor’s line will be answered immediately. A Student Development Professional will be made available to meet or talk with the student.
