Christie Hovey assumes role of IBEA First Vice President

Hovey ChristieChristie Hovey, professor, computer applications, has assumed the role of First Vice President of the Illinois Business Education Association (IBEA). She is responsible for planning the 55th annual IBEA Fall Conference in November 2017, at the end of which she will be installed as the president of the organization.

Christie received the Writers’ Hall of Fame award at the November 2016 conference for her work with Labyrinth Publishers during the past year. Each year, the Writer’s Hall of Fame recognizes IBEA members for their contributions to written professional materials in business education.

From November 2015-16 she served as the elected Second Vice President of IBEA on the IBEA executive board, recruiting volunteers for the fall conference break-out sessions, actively participating as the IBEA representative on the Illinois Association of Career and Technical Education (IACTE) board, contributing at the New Skills for Youth Initiative career readiness stakeholder meetings as one of only a few Illinois educators, and serving as the Mid-IBEA (MIBEA) president.
