Governor Bruce Rauner and First Lady Diana Rauner (top photo) visited the LLCC Child Development Center yesterday for a tour led by Center director Laurie Rhodes. Mrs. Rauner is executive director of Ounce of Prevention Fund and a longtime advocate for early childhood education and child development. The Rauners praised the Center, which is accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children and recognized as a Gold Level Program through ExeleRate Illinois, and posed with Laurie, the LLCC Board of Trustees and President after speaking to the media. Child Development Center Family Fun Night Open House Thursday
Do you or does someone you know need excellent child care? Come to the LLCC Child Development Center’s Family Fun Night Open House this Thursday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Parents, children and families are welcome to view the facilities and children’s activities, talk to teachers and parents of enrolled children, and enjoy refreshments and a story time.
The LLCC Child Development Center, which was honored with the ExceleRate Illinois Gold Circle of Quality Award last year, is open to any child in the community, from 15 months to kindergarten entry. The Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and adheres to learning curriculum through play. Tuition assistance is available to those who qualify.

Retirement Celebration for Brenda Brown
Brenda Brown, Teacher – Child Development Center, is retiring after 20 years in the classroom. Please join us in celebrating with her today, June 26 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the Child Development Center. As a retirement send off, we are asking that you bring a roll of tape!! (Anyone who has ever had a child in Brenda’s classroom will understand this!!)
Volunteers for April 8 Read-A -Thon
The Child Development Center will be holding a Read-A-Thon on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. We are looking for volunteers to read to small groups of children throughout the hour. All you need to provide is a lap, children will provide you with a book to read! Please dress comfortably as you will be sitting on the floor!!! This event is being planned as part of our annual “Week of the Young Child” celebration.
