2017-2018 LLCC Foundation scholarship application now available!

The LLCC Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2017-2018 academic year. Students considering or planning to attend LLCC beginning in fall 2017 are encouraged to apply. Deadline to apply is March 1.

LLCC Foundation scholarships are available for first-time and continuing students who will be enrolled full- or part-time at LLCC. Students submitting a complete application are considered for all available scholarships for which they are eligible.

Master Teacher nominations now accepted

The LLCC Foundation invites students, faculty, staff, alums and retirees to nominate an outstanding full-time, tenured faculty member for the 2017 Drs. Raymond and Ann Pearson Master Teacher Award.  This award annually recognizes an exceptional faculty member for his or her professional contributions to LLCC.  A faculty member may receive the award one-time only.

Online nominations are now being accepted.  Simply click here for the nomination form or log into Blackboard.  Nominations must be submitted to the Foundation by Wednesday, February 8, 2017.

Join us this week at the Winter Art Sale!

LLCC’s Art Department and the Philip and Mary Kathryn Trutter Museum invite you to the 2nd annual Winter Art Sale Wednesday through Friday in the Trutter Center on the college’s Springfield campus.  A wide variety of original artwork from ceramics to fine art and more is reasonably priced and ready for holiday gift giving.

The event gets started Wednesday, Nov. 30 with a preview party from 5 to 7 p.m.  For a $10 cover, guests receive a first-opportunity to browse and buy art, plus gourmet hors d’oeuvres by LLCC students and music by Virgil Rhodes and Footprints.  A cash bar will be available.  Reservations are suggested by calling 786.2785.

Thursday and Friday, Dec. 1 and 2, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., the sale is free and open to the public with coffee and cookies served.  All artwork has been created by LLCC students with the proceeds supporting art students and the Trutter Museum.

Proceeds benefit the LLCC Foundation’s Grow Beyond Endowment Fund which assists students through scholarships and emergency, short-term help, responds quickly to new initiatives, and creates flexible, state-of-the-art learning environments.

UCB helps Foundation Pay it Forward Fund

United Community Bank branches held a casual day to raise funds for the LLCC Foundation’s Pay it Forward Fund with $1,032 raised for student emergency needs. The Pay it Forward Fund was established by an LLCC Foundation board member to support emergency student needs, allowing our students to stay in the classroom. We are grateful to our community friends at United Community Bank for their generous support of LLCC students!
