BSU sponsors All In for Harvey – Blue Jeans Day Sept. 21

The Black Student Union is sponsoring Blue Jeans Day in support of Hurricane Harvey relief efforts on Thursday,  Sept. 21, 2017. To participate, please bring your donation to the LLCC Student Life office. The minimum donation starts at $5, and amounts over $5 are greatly appreciated!

All monies will be donated to the Illinois Community College System Foundation, which is joining with the Texas Community College System to provide assistance to community college students affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Thank you for a great blood drive turnout!

On behalf of the Central Illinois Blood Bank, LLCC Student Life would like to thank everyone who donated during the blood drive on Tuesday. This was the highest contribution LLCC has had in a while. We had 56 donors registered to give, we collected 48 units and there were a whopping 26 first time donors!

Blood drive Sept. 12 – Hurricane Harvey relief

LLCC Student Life is hosting a blood drive today, Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the student union, Menard Hall. The Central Illinois Community Blood Center will donate blood to Texas, in support of those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Donors will receive a free t-shirt!

Walk-ins are always welcome. To schedule an appointment, please call the Community Blood Center at 217.241.7550 or use group sponsor code 60099 to schedule online at www.bloodcenterimpact.org. All donors please eat before donation and present a photo ID.

LLCC Dance Club’s cake pop and soda pop sale

The K-Pop dance group on campus, LLCC Dance Club: Express Your Seoul, is having a cake pop and soda pop sale today in A. Lincoln Commons from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be many flavors and selections from which to choose! All proceeds will be donated to LLCC’s “All In for Harvey” to help assist community colleges in Texas.

Student clubs looking for advisors

The Student United Way and Veterans Club are two established clubs on campus that are looking for advisors. If you are a staff or faculty member with an interest in advising either of these clubs, please contact Marie Watson at marie.watson@llcc.edu. The mission statement for both clubs are below:

Student United Way
The Student United Way at Lincoln Land Community College serves the local community by 1) giving, advocating, and volunteering in the areas of education, income, and health, 2) helping members and other students grow as leaders and connect to the community and 3) building lasting relationships among members and with the United Way movement.

Veterans Club
The Veterans Club is established to help support soldiers to cope with civilian life, to give support to troops overseas, to perform local volunteer work and to have club functions to raise money and build friendships with other veterans.

On Wednesday, Sept. 6, LLCC Student Life is sponsoring Club Information Day from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons. Encourage students to get involved and learn about the different clubs LLCC has to offer! Food provided by Herbkoe Fun Foods.

LLCC Student Life would like to thank everyone who donated to the LLCC Food Pantry throughout this summer and at Convocation. We logged more than 900 items donated at Convocation! Your support is much appreciated and goes a long way in supporting our students. Please find attached the August Food Pantry Update. The food pantry is open Monday noon-3 p.m., Tuesday 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and Thursday 1-4 p.m. Questions and referrals can be directed to Marie Watson and Marina Wirsing in the student life office.

The Lincoln Land Community College Food Pantry needs your help to stock its shelves. All faculty and staff are encouraged to bring an item from the list below to convocation on Friday, Aug. 18. The items listed below are either out-of-stock or highly desired at this time. All food items must not be expired and single serve/individual portion items are preferred.
