Open enrollment is wrapping up for the voluntary benefits listed below. Required forms must be turned into LLCC Human Resources no later than 5 p.m. on Dec. 13, 2017. Please read each section below carefully for more information on what you need to do.

Long-Term Disability Insurance: A personalized enrollment form has been sent to your home. If you are a current LTD plan participant, please note that you must complete the enrollment form if you wish to continue your coverage. If we do not receive your form, your coverage will end Dec. 31, 2017.

Life Insurance: During open enrollment, you have an opportunity to increase your life insurance coverage. A personalized enrollment form has been sent to your home. Your personalized form contains your current coverage information to assist in your decision making process.

Critical Illness/Cancer and Accident InsuranceTHIS YEAR ONLY — no approval process required. Requested coverage is approved automatically. Read information about critical illness and cancer coverageaccident coverage, an enrollment form and instructions for completing the enrollment form, if you wish to participate in one or both of these insurance benefits. Current plan participants are not required to complete the enrollment form if they wish to continue their coverage.

A webinar on elder law basics, which is available through our employee assistance program (EAP), will be held Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. Central (12 p.m. Eastern).

SURS Board announces vacant positions

SURS will hold a board election during April 2018 to fill three expiring trustee positions. All SURS members are encouraged to consider running for a trustee position.

Elected trustees serve six-year terms. The SURS Board of Trustees meets quarterly, with additional committee meetings scheduled throughout the year. Trustees are also required to meet certain annual ethics, legislative and fiduciary training as well as complete eight hours of educational conferences on investments and public pension administration.

Active member candidates are nominated by petitions in writing, signed by no less than 400 participants. Annuitant candidates are also nominated by petitions in writing, signed by no less than 100 annuitants. All candidates must also complete an application. Candidate packets and petition forms are available from SURS. Candidates should contact Kelly Carson at kcarson@surs.org for information. Completed petitions will be due to SURS on Jan. 31, 2018.

All eligible SURS members will receive a ballot along with candidate information prior to April 2, 2018. Members will be able to vote by returning a paper ballot in a postage-paid envelope, by phone or online.
