"Quarantina" by Leslie StalterLeslie Stalter, professor of art, has sculpted a butter cow, “Quarantina,” for the Illinois Times Miniature Butter Cow Contest, and voting is now open! You can view all the entries and place your vote on the IT website through Aug. 31 at 2:01 p.m.

“My students will tell you I’m a little bit obsessed with the fair’s butter cow,” says Leslie. “Quarantina is ready for anything this epidemic throws her way.”

You are invited to join the LLCC Choir!

The LLCC Choir (MUS 110-01) will be meeting in the flex modality this fall semester, with in-person meetings occurring on Mondays and Wednesdays, 2-2:30 p.m. in Sangamon Hall (Rooms 0014 and 0015), and a remote meeting occurring on Fridays, 2-2:50 p.m. People will be placed 10-16 feet apart and required to wear masks for in-person meetings. LLCC employees interested in participating can also do so fully remotely, if preferred.

The upcoming concert, titled “Together,” includes repertoire that focuses on what the word “together” means, the longing for it and how we get there. It will be distributed as a video and is already shaping up to be an exciting collaboration across multiple areas!

“A Year in the Life of Chris Britt” opens today in Murray Gallery

A Year in the Life of Chris Britt. January 13-February 14, 2020. The James S. Murray Gallery, Lincoln Land Community CollegeThe James S. Murray Gallery at LLCC is hosting the exhibit “A Year in the Life of Chris Britt” from Jan. 13-Feb. 14. The public is invited to view the exhibit, which features Britt’s editorial cartoons, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The gallery is located on the upper level of Menard Hall.

The exhibit features a selection of cartoons, which draw attention to some of the key events and issues in the recent past. They showcase Britt’s powerful and thought-provoking navigation through the landscape of American politics.

Britt has been challenging and entertaining readers with his editorial cartoons since 1991. His award-winning work offers commentary on national and international events. His work runs weekly in the Illinois Times, and he has worked as a cartoonist at The State Journal-Register, The Seattle Times, the Sacramento Union, the Houston Post and The News Tribune of Tacoma, Wash. Britt won first place for editorial cartooning from the Washington Press Association in 1995, the National Press Foundation’s Berryman Award as editorial cartoonist of the year in 1994 and the Sigma Delta Chi Award for editorial cartooning from the Society of Professional Journalists in 2009. His cartoons have been published in Newsweek, Newsweek Japan, Time Magazine, U.S. News and World Report, The New York Times, The Washington Post and USA Today. They have also been aired on CNN’s Inside Politics, MSNBC, Fox News and ABC’s Good Morning America.
