Paul Simon Essay Contest local winners announced
The LLCC Writing Center is pleased to announce the local winners of this year’s Paul Simon Essay Contest:
- First Place: Abigail High
- Second Place: Link Gallagher
- Third Place: Corry Jankowski
Congratulations to the winners! Thanks to generous donations from the LLCC Foundation and the LLCC Bookstore, all local winners will receive prizes, and the first place winner will have her essay forwarded on to the statewide competition for a chance to win a $500 scholarship.
Commencement regalia for faculty and administrators
LLCC’s commencement ceremony is being held Friday, May 15. Have you completed a higher degree in the past year? Did your gown or tam not fit right last year? If so, please contact Kim Lesko in LLCC Campus Services at kimberly.lesko@llcc.edu or by phone at 786-2456 by March 6 to update your regalia order. If you have no changes, what you had at last year’s ceremony will be ordered.
New faculty members or administrators who need graduation regalia for the commencement ceremony should contact Kim Lesko by March 6 to get that ordered.

Please encourage students to enter this year’s Paul Simon Essay Contest. An essay of 500 words or less on the topic “How my community college changed my life” gets students entered to win cash and other cool prizes, courtesy of the LLCC Foundation and Bookstore. The local winner will be entered in the statewide competition for the chance to win a $500 scholarship. Students can schedule appointments in the LLCC Writing Center to get help with their essays.
