Vaccination clinics

LLCC will be hosting the following vaccination clinics on the Springfield campus. Students and employees wishing to get vaccinated can drop in during the vaccination clinic hours and receive a free vaccination (no appointment needed). Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are all available. Students and employees receiving the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine will need to complete the second dose to be considered fully vaccinated. Booster shots are also available. If you are wanting a booster or second dose, please bring your vaccine card. The clinic is being provided by HR Support, contracted in partnership with IEMA through the state of Illinois.

  • Monday, Feb. 21, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 4-6:30 p.m., Menard Atrium
  • Tuesday, Feb. 22, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., A. Lincoln Commons
  • Monday, March 21, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 4-6:30 p.m., A. Lincoln Commons
  • Tuesday, March 22, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., A. Lincoln Commons

Additional vaccination clinics will be held at the LLCC Outreach Centers, including:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 22, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at LLCC-Jacksonville, Room 1136. Vaccines and boosters will both be available. Appointments for this location can be scheduled at https://tinyurl.com/msw43cxv.

If you want to get vaccinated or the booster elsewhere, https://coronavirus.illinois.gov/vaccines/vaccination-locations.html will provide you with locations in your community where you can get vaccinated. Also, if you would like to schedule an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccination or the booster at the Sangamon or Menard County Health Departments, you can go to https://scdph.org/ to schedule an appointment.

Due to anticipated inclement weather, LLCC is closed today, Feb. 17, at all locations. All classes, services and events are cancelled.

Mascot, homecoming royals announced

LLCC’s mascot, Linc, was introduced on Saturday as part of homecoming — during halftime of the women’s basketball game. Linc is proud to be a Logger! You’re sure to see Linc around campus and at LLCC Outreach Centers. Be sure to say hello and take a selfie with Linc! #LincAtLLCC #GoLoggers

Hannah Williams, Linc, and Alex WhiteLLCC’s 2022 Homecoming Royals were announced during halftime of the men’s basketball game. Congratulations to Hannah Williams and Alex White. Hannah is a Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society member pursuing a career in elementary education with a minor in special education. Alex is a criminal justice major who plans on becoming a state police officer.

Opportunities to share and inspire: Call for proposals

As experts in your respective fields, we invite faculty and staff to share your knowledge and experience through the development and facilitation of Continuing Professional Development Opportunities (CPDUs) for our district’s K-12 teachers. Potential topics include, but are not limited to: access and equity, book studies, classroom management, child and adolescent development, curriculum innovations, digital skills, discipline specific topics, and trauma informed or high impact teaching practices. All additional suggested topics will be considered. Compensation will be provided. Please complete the initial interest form or contact laurel.bretz@llcc.edu for further details by March 1.

2022 Lincoln Lecture

This year’s Lincoln Lecture was held Friday, Feb. 11, in the Trutter Center with an option to participate remotely. There were a total of 114 participants (43 in person and 74 on Zoom). Dr. Samuel Wheeler presented “More Painful Than Pleasant?: Abraham Lincoln and His Father.”

Congratulations Tameka Johnson-Tillman!

Tameka Tillman-JohnsonCongratulations to Tameka Johnson-Tillman, professor of English, recipient of the 2022 Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty Recognition from the American Association of Community Colleges! Recipients will be honored at AACC Annual Convention in New York City May 1. Named in honor of former AACC President and CEO Dale P. Parnell, this designation has been established to recognize individuals making a difference in the classroom. Recipients of this distinction demonstrate passion for students and the classroom; show willingness to support students, inside and outside of the classroom; and go above and beyond what is required to ensure that students are successful in their academic endeavors.
