LLCC welcomes Kellee Phillips and Nick Johnson

Kellee PhillipsLLCC Student Services welcomes Kellee Phillips who began work on Jan. 2. Kellee is in the newly added role of student care coordinator. Kellee will be working with students to direct them to well-being and mental health services available on and off campus. She will be partnering with faculty and staff on how to work with students with mental health and well-being issues. Kellee will also be developing workshops, classroom trainings and resources for students to expand their skills in personal management and growth. Kellee earned a bachelor’s degree in social work and most recently worked at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School as a school social worker and counselor. Nick JohnsonLLCC Workforce Equity Initiative welcomes Nick Johnson to the team. Nick began work on Jan. 16 as a WEI program assistant. Nick has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Blackburn College. Prior to coming to LLCC, Nick served as a foster care manager through the Department of Children and Family Services. Deanne MottLLCC Student Success welcomes Deanne Mott who began work on Jan. 8. Deanne is a student success coach and brings higher education and academic advising experience to LLCC students. She most recently served as the associate director of Heartland Community College Lincoln. Deanne holds a master’s degree in interpersonal communication from the University of Illinois Springfield.

LLCC Student Success welcomes Allyssa Finder who began work on Jan. 2. Allyssa is a student success coach who comes with academic advising experience from the University of Illinois College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Alyssa holds a master’s degree in communication from the University of Illinois Springfield.

The LLCC Center for Academic Success welcomes Lisa Lang as the program assistant. Lisa’s first day was Jan. 2. She is from Williamsville where she most recently served as the administrative assistant at Williamsville Junior High School.

LLCC welcomes new dean of English and humanities

Dr. Corrinne HintonDr. Corrine Hinton has joined LLCC as dean of English and humanities. She began her new duties Jan. 2.

Dr. Hinton comes to LLCC after spending 10 years at Texas A&M University–Texarkana as an assistant, and then associate, professor of English as well as department chair of arts, communication, media and English for three of those years. She taught courses in rhetoric, writing studies and humanities as well as graduate courses in research methods and the teaching of writing.

Her recent honors include university awards for Distinguished Faculty of the Year and Teaching Excellence in Undergraduate Mentorship, inductee into the Texas A&M System Chancellor’s Academy of Teacher Educators and an Excellence in Teaching award from the National Society of Leadership and Success. Also, a notable scholar in the interdisciplinary field of veterans studies and veterans advocate, Hinton has published and presented research on the transitional experiences of student veterans into colleges and universities.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Hinton back to Illinois. She brings valuable classroom and administrative experience and has a passion for student success, helping students to build confidence and see growth in themselves,” said Jason Dockter, Ph.D., vice president of academic services at LLCC.

Hinton is originally from Belleville. She earned a Ph.D. in English with an emphasis in rhetoric and composition from Saint Louis University. She attended the University of Missouri–St. Louis for her master’s, with a concentration in 20th century American literature, and bachelor’s degrees in English.

Welcome to AJ Taylor and Jim Collins

LLCC Facilities welcomes two new custodians. Andre “AJ” Taylor began work on Jan. 3. He brings his experience in environmental services work from St. John’s School of Nursing. AJ’s hometown is Springfield. His first assignment will be in Menard Hall.

Jim Collins also began work on Jan. 3. Jim brings years of environmental services experience from Springfield Memorial Hospital. Jim’s first assignment will be on the second floor of the Millennium Center.

Welcome Patrick Uhrich

Patrick UhrichPatrick Uhrich joined LLCC Nov. 27 as building custodian. He previously served as an environmental associate at HSHS for two years. Patrick earned CDL certification from LLCC and is currently working on a fire science degree at the college.

Welcome Cassie Graun

Cassie GraunCassie Graun joined LLCC Nov. 20 as administrative assistant to the dean, English and humanities. She previously worked at Camp Lincoln, Illinois Army National Guard as secretary for the inspector general’s office. Cassie and her husband also own and operate Graun Bee Company in Petersburg, where they harvest and sell honey. She is an LLCC alum, who earned an associate in arts.
