Sept. 6 is the deadline to submit “On My Own Time” artwork
Faculty and staff interested in participating in LLCC’s On My Own Time (OMOT) exhibit — today, Wednesday, Sept. 6 is the deadline to submit your artwork. Each individual may enter up to three artworks created since 2014 for $5 per entry fee. Artwork and registration fees may be submitted to any of the LLCC coordinators (Misty, Judy or Janet).

Windows 10 overview
Windows 10 is coming to LLCC! Discover how it differs from Windows 7. IT will be holding two open computer labs this week for you to stop by and peruse the operating system, ask questions on the functionality, etc. No registration is required.

Academic Innovation & eLearning September workshop schedule
LLCC Academic Innovation & eLearning is offering a variety of workshops this semester. A list of courses, detailed descriptions and registration information can be found at www.llcc.edu/aiel/workshop-schedule. Workshops include several new session by Amy Chernowsky, our new instructional designer, as well as new sessions on using Blackboard and the new Softchalk upgrades. Additions have also been made to open lab offerings with everything from assessment to Zogotech.

ALL to hold annual Chilli Supper Sunday, Sept. 10
LLCC’s Academy of Lifelong Learning will hold its annual Chilli Supper Sunday, Sept. 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Temple B’rith Sholom Social Hall, 1004 S. 4th St., Springfield. The public is invited to attend. The cost is $7 per person and free for youth ages 8 and under.
The supper will feature chilli made by Les Eastep, well-known Springfield chilli chef and cook-off judge. Also on the menu are hot dogs, chilli dogs, beverages and desserts, with carryout available.
The event will include a book and puzzle exchange along with exhibits about Academy of Lifelong Learning programs and activities. New this year is a trivia contest at 2 p.m. Teams of 10 can participate at $10 per person. The winning team will receive a $150 prize.

Message from the president: LLCC going “All In for Harvey”
Dear LLCC Students, Faculty and Staff,
I know that many of you have been looking for ways to assist those in need due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey. LLCC’s Student Life Office has stepped up to coordinate a college-wide effort called “All In for Harvey” to raise funds for community colleges in Texas affected by this disaster. Through the Illinois Community College System Foundation, community colleges across Illinois, including LLCC, will join together to work with the Texas community college system in identifying those with the greatest need.
I know many have inquired about donating various items. We are leaving those drives to our community agencies who are better suited to logistically manage getting those things where needed. Their community colleges have not yet been able to assess what the needs are going to be to get them, their faculty, their staff and their students back up and operational. Therefore, we are accepting monetary donations to support them as they recover.
Here at LLCC, you may drop off a monetary donation (cash or check) in the Student Life Office, or at LLCC Outreach Centers in Jacksonville, Beardstown, Taylorville and Litchfield. Checks should be made out to the Illinois Community College System Foundation. A blood drive will be held on campus Sept. 12 which will assist victims, and throughout the month of September, LLCC student clubs will sponsor various fundraising events, including the Black Student Union’s jeans day Sept. 21. More details will be coming on these events as they are planned.
Rest assured all contributions will go to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, targeting support for community college students. The Illinois Community College System Foundation is a 501(c)(3) and any donations are tax-deductible. This effort is supported by the Illinois Community College Board, the Illinois Community College Trustees Association, and the Illinois Council of Community College Presidents.

Learn about Microsoft Office 365 in a September IT workshop
Microsoft Office 365 is a cloud-based collection of apps and services (email, calendars, Office programs, OneDrive storage and more) that can be used from just about anywhere, using almost any device. Two workshops will be held in September that provide an introduction to the Office 365 environment with a focus on OneDrive file storage and sharing.
