Welcome to summer session!

We welcome students as summer session weekday classes begin today! Volunteers will be assisting at the welcome table in A. Lincoln Commons,  helping answer students’ questions and providing directions.

Repair of drives and parking lots begins today

Starting on today, June 3, paving contractors will be working on repairing drives and parking lots on the main campus in Springfield and updating parking lots at our Taylorville location. Work on the main campus will include resurfacing of the main vehicular circulation drive, Cass Gym parking lot, Montgomery parking lot and other miscellaneous curbing, gutter and drainage repair work. In Taylorville, the existing parking lot will get a seal and stripe and additional paving of the gravel lot and work at the entrance drive will be taking place. We anticipate this work will continue through the summer and will be complete in mid-August. Please plan accordingly as Cass and Montgomery parking lots and sections of the main drive may be inaccessible for short periods of time. Contractors will be sure to maintain at least one drive lane open at all times on the main campus and will maintain access to the Taylorville parking lot at all times. Please use caution and follow all construction traffic signs, cones/barrels and directions during this time at both locations. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Tim Ervin at 786-9605 or at tim.ervin@llcc.edu.

Renovation of five classrooms starts tomorrow

Starting tomorrow, June 4, contractors will begin renovating five classrooms in Sangamon and Menard halls. It is anticipated that this work will be ongoing through the end of July. Please use caution, and be aware of all construction activities, barriers, etc. that could be present in and around the hallways during this time. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Tim Ervin at 786-9605 or at tim.ervin@llcc.edu.

Message to faculty from CAS

The LLCC Center for Academic Success looks forward to working with faculty and students this summer. Please feel free to come down and visit us in the lower level of Sangamon Hall and speak with our staff about the many services offered to help students reach their goals and achieve academic success. To help get the semester off to a great start, please check your email for the following files sent on May 30: a makeup testing form, summer 2019 service hours and a Smart Start Seminar flyer.

  1. Makeup testing form – In the event that any of your students are unable to take an exam during regular class time, please use this form to provide our testing proctor with necessary details regarding how you would like your make-up test to be administered in the Center for Academic Success.
  2. Summer 2019 service hours -This is a great resource to include with your syllabus on the first day of class and to post on bulletin boards in your office.
  3. Smart Start Seminar flyer – This, again, can be included with your syllabus or posted in your classroom. Our seminars teach students a variety of proven strategies for success in college level courses.  All of the seminars cover the same topics, so students may choose the one day and time that works best with their schedules.

For more detailed information about our services, you can also visit us online at www.llcc.edu/cas. Have a great semester, and please let us know if we can be of further assistance!
