Calling all artists! “On My Own Time” slated for September

On My Own TimeDid you realize there are 12 artwork categories?! Categories such as painting, drawing, mixed media/collage and photography are always very popular. But there are also categories in fiber/fabric/quilts/needlework (such as embroidery, needlepoint, tapestry, handmade paper, basketry), wood/metal/stone sculpture (such as wooden toys, wood burning, chip carving, wood turning, forged/cast/constructed metal, carved soapstone), pottery/ceramics (such as vases, bowls, plates which are made out clay, earthenware, stoneware or porcelain and fired at high temperatures). A detailed list of the categories, as well as the rules are attached.

The Springfield Area Arts Council’s On My Own Time (OMOT) program is a unique program that provides LLCC faculty and staff an opportunity to display original art they have created outside the office, truly, on your own time. There will be an in-house exhibit at LLCC followed by a city-wide exhibit at the Springfield Art Association showcasing first place award-winning artwork from all participating businesses, agencies and institutions.

LLCC’s in-house exhibit will be featured on the LLCC-Springfield campus September-November.

Faculty and staff (including those from the Outreach Centers) may enter up to three artworks each, created since 2016, for a fee of $5 per entry. The fee assists SAAC with costs of the OMOT program. Details and deadlines will be announced at the beginning of fall semester.

Utilize the rest of this summer by using your imagination and skills to create new artwork!
