PRM Ready commercial wins national award

40th annual bronze winner. The Telly AwardsLLCC Public Relations and Marketing’s Ready TV commercial recently received a bronze Telly Award for “Local TV General – Schools/Colleges/Universities.” The Telly Awards, in their 40th year, honor video and television made for all screens and are judged by The Telly Award Judging Council, a group of leading video and television experts from some of the most prestigious companies in entertainment, publishing, advertising and emerging technology.

The July/August issue of Springfield’s Own (SO) Magazine featured a two-page spread of photos from the 13th annual LLCC Foundation Gala.

Sheridan Lane, interim director, culinary program and operations, is the author of today’s Epicuriosity 101 column in the State Journal-Register, “Feel the BEET.”

2019 recipients of Dick Dhabalt Athlete of the Year Award

The 2019 recipients of the Dick Dhabalt Athlete of the Year Award at Lincoln Land Community College have been announced. The award winners are basketball’s Katryel Clark of Auburn and baseball’s Spencer Walker of Bartonville.

Katryel ClarkKatryel Clark received several recognitions this year. She was named to second team All-American, MWAC Freshman of the Year, MWAC Player of the Year, All-Region 24 Team, MWAC’s leading scorer, NJCAA Player of the Week selection and NJCAA Top 40 All-Star Game member. Because of her stellar year, her jersey is currently on display in the Women’s National Basketball Hall of Fame. Clark was also the leading scorer for the Loggers averaging 15.8 points per game and 9.5 rebounds. She also finished her freshman year at LLCC with a 3.77 GPA.

“Kat has exemplified what it means to be a student athlete. She has worked hard and improved tremendously in the time she has been at LLCC,” says Chad Jones, head women’s basketball coach. “Her play on the court was not only at a high level, but it was very consistent. Not only is she a great athlete, but she is an unbelievable student. She is very deserving of this award.”

Spencer WalkerSpencer Walker is a pitcher for the Loggers and ended his freshman season with a 1.26 ERA, which is the second best in program history. Walker went 8-1 this year with his only loss being in the NJCAA World Series. He was named to first team All-Conference, All-Region and third team All-American. Walker struck out 69 batters and only allowed 53 hits.

“Spencer had an excellent year. He is very deserving of this award. His hard work and dedication have played a huge part in his success,” says Coach Ron Riggle, athletic director and head baseball coach. “We are looking forward to a great sophomore season from Spencer.”

Department and program updates to website

PRM and IT personnel will be revising the structural paths of academic department and program webpages on the LLCC website beginning today, July 23, to align with the new academic department structure. Responsible Employee training Aug. 8

Are you a Responsible Employee? Do you want more information about how to best respond to disclosures of sexual harassment, sexual violence, dating/domestic violence or stalking? Sign up now for a Responsible Employee training session! The next session will be offered on Aug. 8 from 10-11 a.m. RSVP by emailing Shelby Bedford at shelby.bedford@llcc.edu. Additionally, a training can be scheduled at a department or team meeting by contacting Shelby.

2019-20 LLCC catalog available

LLCC’s new 2019-2020 Catalog is available online. The link to the catalog can also be found on the LLCC homepage by hovering over the “Academics” tab at the top and clicking “Catalog” in the drop down menu.
