Donations for “Stuff the Stocking” accepted through Dec. 13

StockingThe Student Services Administrative Assistant Peer 2 Peer Connections group is sponsoring a “Stuff the Stocking” event during the first two weeks of December, and you can be a part of this effort!

You will see large stockings hung in LLCC Student Life as well as in the Student Success hallway at the main campus and in the front office of each of the Outreach Centers. Each stocking will be waiting for donations of a new pair of warm socks, a hat, gloves or scarf. They can be hand crafted, knitted, crocheted or purchased, but please make them new.

Items will be given to LLCC students through LLCC Student Life and donated to local nonprofit organizations in Springfield, Taylorville, Jacksonville, Litchfield and Beardstown.

Donations will be accepted through Dec. 13.

It’s a small thing, a scarf or pair of gloves, but there are many in our LLCC community who could use that simple little thing to help keep them warm during this winter season. Thank you for making someone’s holiday and the winter months a little warmer!

LLCC-Beardstown holds food and clothing drives

LLCC-Beardstown held food and clothing drives the last three weeks in November during which students and faculty collected more than 200 items, including non-perishable food, hats, gloves, socks, mittens and scarves. These items were donated to the LLCC-Beardstown Food Pantry, Cass County Food Pantry, New 2 You Consignment Store and Beardstown Middle School.

Classes competed to collect the most items for the drive and win a pizza party. Two sections of Composition I (EGL 101) taught by Erin Schafer, adjunct instructor, were honored — one as the class with the most food drive donations and the other as the class that collected the most clothing drive items.

Many thanks to staff and students for making the food drive and Administrative Assistant Peer 2 Peer Connections group “Stuff the Stocking” events a great success in Beardstown!
