“Stuff the Stocking” event Dec. 2-13

StockingThe Student Services Administrative Assistant Peer 2 Peer Connections group is sponsoring a “Stuff the Stocking” event during the first two weeks of December, and you can be a part of this effort!

You will see large stockings hung in LLCC Student Life as well as in the Student Success hallway at the main campus and in the front office of each of the Outreach Centers. Each stocking will be waiting for donations of a new pair of warm socks, a hat, gloves or scarf. They can be hand crafted, knitted, crocheted or purchased, but please make them new.

Items will be given to LLCC students through LLCC Student Life and donated to local nonprofit organizations in Springfield, Taylorville, Jacksonville, Litchfield and Beardstown.

Donations will be accepted Dec. 2-13.

It’s a small thing, a scarf or pair of gloves, but there are many in our LLCC community who could use that simple little thing to help keep them warm during this winter season. Thank you for making someone’s holiday and the winter months a little warmer!

SGA sponsoring annual Angel Tree

The LLCC Student Government Association is sponsoring the annual Angel Tree to spread joy and cheer to local senior residents of Capitol Retirement Village. The angels will be available for pickup starting today! Gifts must be returned to LLCC Student Life with the angel tag included by Wednesday, Dec. 4. For any questions, please email Richard Hollinshead, SGA president, at rholl1707@llcc.edu.

Year-End Progress Update form

In an effort to gather progress information for the last fiscal year’s initiatives, we have created a simple Year-End Progress Update form for your completion. This will serve as a close-out for all FY19 Planning & Budgeting Projects. If you submitted a project request during FY19 Planning & Budgeting Process, you will be required to submit year end progress update information for approved projects. Updated FY19 Planning & Budgeting documents are available on SharePoint. Budget Maintenance requests are excluded from this process.

Please access the SharePoint form and provide progress information for each of your FY19 projects. The form is filtered to display the project id numbers that you will need to respond to. Select a project id number, provide the necessary information, include supporting documents as attachments and submit the form. As each project id is completed, it will be removed from the drop down list on the SharePoint form.

All submitted forms will be routed directly to your VP for review.

Your responses should include specific evidence to support your project progress.   If you have questions about what type of specific support, please contact Karie Longhta. If you have any problems with accessing the SharePoint page, contact Megan McCann.

The updates should be submitted no later than noon on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Phishing alert

Several users have reported getting an email from “White, Gregory C <gwhit5302@llcc.edu>” with a link to a supposed message from HR. The subject of the email is “Memo From HR Department.” This email is NOT a legit email.  It is a phishing attempt to acquire users login credentials. Please disregard this message and delete the email.

This message was sent from a compromised student email account used as proxy, thus the [EXTERNAL EMAIL] tag not appearing on the messages. The link has been marked as malicious and blocked.

Phishing is a common identity theft method used by fraudulent parties. NEVER send your personal information including passwords, user IDs, credit card numbers or a social security number via email. Passwords should NEVER be shared with ANYONE in any form.

To learn more about “phishing,” follow the links below:
www.phishing.org/what-is-phishing
www.webopedia.com/DidYouKnow/Internet/2005/phishing.asp

Information Technology (IT) or any other LLCC department does not solicit passwords or any other personal information via email. If you receive an email message that appears to come from IT that requests this type of information, please forward it immediately to phishing@llcc.edu. Do not reply or click on any links. Again, these emails are often hoaxes (“phishing” emails), part of identity theft and fraud scams.
