AIG retirement savings plans

My name is David Jones, and I am a certified financial planner with AIG Retirement, formerly known as Valic. We are a provider of the 403b, Roth 403b and 457b retirement savings plans available to LLCC employees. Many of you have seen me on campus in the past. For obvious reasons, I will not be scheduling regular visits to the campus this semester, but I will still be available at your convenience to review your accounts, make changes or to enroll new participants who are ready to start saving for retirement.

I can be reached by cell phone at 217-653-9171 or by email at David.jones@aig.com. I can also conduct one-on-one or group Webex meetings to be accessed through email invitation. Face-to-face meetings can also be scheduled. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule an appointment.

Sincerely,

Stop, think, connect – report phishing emails

Phishing is a fraudulent attempt to obtain personal information from you, such as passwords, banking information, etc. and are most commonly sent to you by email.

Most organizations — banks, companies, etc. — will not ask for your personal information over email.

Stop

  • Don’t open emails from strangers, and don’t click on unfamiliar sites; if you think an offer is too good to be true, then it probably is.
  • Requests to update or confirm your personal information or that state your account has been suspended are common attempts.
  • Be wary of messages that encourage you to act immediately, as well as offers that invite you to join an event or group on a social networking website with incentives like free gift cards.

Think

  • Look at the email carefully.
  • Hover your mouse over the sender’s name and any links within the message body to view the sender’s address or URL content.
    • Never click on any of the active links unless you are 100% sure they are legitimate.
    • It’s better to enter a new website address by typing it into the browser instead of following the link.

Connect

  • Report the message via your Outlook desktop app or Outlook 365 with the built-in feature.
  • You do not need to forward this onto the Helpdesk or call.
    • The most efficient and fastest way to notify IT is to use the Report the Message as Phishing feature.

Outlook Desktop

With the message selected, click on Report Message in the Ribbon. Select Phishing. The malicious email will be reported directly to Microsoft. Reporting malicious and unsolicited emails makes LLCC’s email filtering system more effective.
"Report Message" is on the right-hand side of the Home ribbon in Outlook. Select it, and then "Phishing" in its sub menu (second option, below "Junk" and above "Not Junk").

Outlook 365

Select the email from the list and click on the Not Junk drop-down arrow. Select Phishing. The malicious email will be reported directly to Microsoft. Reporting malicious and unsolicited emails makes LLCC’s email filtering system more effective.
In Outlook 365, across the top of the screen, under the search box, there are the options: Emply folder, Not junk, Move to. Select Not junk and then Phishing to report the email directly to Microsoft.

Esports season underway

Loggers Overwatch teamHave you seen our latest esports matches? Last week, LLCC esports player Jack McLaughlin won his Fortnite match against everyone else playing in the country! Our Rocket League team took a 4-0 series victory over Hawkeye Community College, Overwatch took a 3-0 series loss to Hawkeye Community College and all Super Smash Brothers Ultimate players except one won their matches. You can watch the Loggers esports team on Twitch!

  • Mondays – Fortnite at 5 p.m.
  • Tuesdays – Super Smash Brothers Ultimate at 5 p.m. and Rocket League at 5 p.m. (Since scheduled at the same time, one or the other will be shown; or, if possible, the match will be delayed by an hour to show one at 5 p.m. and the other at 6 p.m.)
  • Thursdays – Overwatch at 5 p.m.

Twitch is a free streaming platform in which audiences, among other things, can watch esports for free. No purchase is required. The Loggers esports team will be streaming each of their matches on their Twitch channel, and when not actively competing, the channel will host player’s channels.

You can find the Loggers esports Twitch channel at https://twitch.tv/loggersesports, or if on the Twitch app via smart TV or smartphone, search for “loggersesports” at the top of Twitch’s homepage to access the channel.

Once on the channel, there are five tabs: Home, About, Schedule, Videos and Chat. If you missed a match in real time, you can catch up on recent Loggers matches on the Videos tab. The Chat tab gets you access to communicate with other spectators during the matches. This is a fun and unique way to cheer on the team, and players can see the chat after the match.

To make the most of your Twitch experience, create a free Twitch account, and be sure to follow the Loggers Twitch page by hitting the Follow button. This way, you can be notified each time the team goes live with a stream!
