Monday Morning Mentor program

Each week, Academic Innovation and eLearning is sending out a link to a different Monday Morning Mentor program by MAGNA Publications. Each topic is presented by respected academic peers and covers timely and relevant topics in only 20 minutes — brief enough to fit busy schedules, but long enough to deliver valuable, actionable content.

This week’s topic:
How Can I Encourage Students to Stay Connected with Course Content After Class?
Presentation date: Oct. 18, 2021 and on-demand for one week.

From this link, you can view the featured 20-Minute Mentor and access the transcript, handouts, and supplemental material. These materials are only available for the week of the presentation.

NOTE: You will need to enter a password in order to view the program. See Monday’s email from Becky Parton for the password, or contact becky.parton@llcc.edu.

Access to the programs in the Monday Morning Mentor series is restricted to members of the subscribing institution. Any unauthorized use or access, including sharing access with faculty and staff not affiliated with the subscribing institution, is prohibited.

Professional Development Day Nov. 2

The Fall 2021 Professional Development Day is Nov. 2. The committee is working to finalize sessions, and detailed information will be provided later this week or early next week. Most sessions will be scheduled in the afternoon with only a few offerings in the morning to allow for departmental meetings as needed. We are happy to announce this year’s keynote speaker will be Steve Gilliland to present “Moving Forward with a Purpose.” The keynote presentation will be from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., with a grab-and-go box lunch provided at the conclusion of the presentation. Please look for more details soon!

The road to cybersecurity: the importance of verification

The Road to Cybersecurity. Verify. From IT Team to You. Plz install update now. Hello, please click here to install the latest updates to your computer immediately. STOPThanks again for taking this trip on The Road to Cybersecurity! This week, we’re talking about the importance of verification.

Cybercriminals like to send mixed signals. They may impersonate your supervisor or even Dr. Warren and make odd requests to wire money, purchase gift cards or share sensitive information.

Even if a request appears to come from a legitimate sender, verify using a different communication method. Give them a call, send them an instant message on Teams or drop by their desk to confirm. Better safe than sorry!
