LLCC received a “thumbs up” from the State Journal-Register May 18 for efforts to assist displaced Robert Morris University students following the announcement that the RMU Springfield campus is closing.

Dr. Cynthia Maskey, dean of health professions, was interviewed by WTAX radio May 20 on the Health Care Expo this Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and the many health care degree, certificate and short-term health care programs offered at LLCC.

Karen Sanders, executive director, LLCC Foundation, was named in the State Journal-Register May 19 as a nominee for non-for-profit business director of the year in the 34^th annual Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards.

Anne Armbruster, student success coach, wrote the LLCC essay in yesterday’s State Journal-Register, “Student success coaches support students through their academic journey.”

Dr. Lesley Frederick, vice president, student services, was interviewed by WICS/FOX Illinois news on the special assistance being offered to displaced students of Robert Morris University’s Springfield campus, which is closing soon. She was also interviewed by WLDS/WEAI news on the same topic.

LLCC has designated a team to work individually with RMU students in exploring enrollment options for the summer and/or fall semesters. Students may email RMU2LLCC@llcc.edu or call 217-786-9600 to reach the response team. The team can answer potential questions about transfer to LLCC, financial aid, transcripts and more.

“We have reached out to RMU Springfield to let them know we are committed to serving any RMU student currently attending or planning to do so in the fall,” said Dr. Frederick. “LLCC has many high quality courses and training programs, offered at an affordable price, in subjects that were offered at RMU in Springfield.”

Dr. Cynthia Maskey, dean of health professions, appeared on the Good Day Illinois program on FOX Illinois May 15 to promote the upcoming Health Care Expo. She will be interviewed this morning on WMAY and Monday on WTAX on the same topic. The Health Care Expo will be held Thursday, May 23, from 6-8 p.m. in the Trutter Center for prospective students interested in health careers.

Tisha Miller, enrollment coordinator for LLCC-Litchfield and LLCC-Taylorville, was interviewed by Miller Media r on the LLCC/Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce job fair.

Bob Howard, director, truck driver training, was interviewed  yesterday for an article in the Springfield Business Journal on the national truck driver shortage and LLCC’s truck driver training program.

Lynn Whalen, executive director of public relations, was interviewed for an upcoming story in the Springfield Business Journal on steps LLCC is taking to train and retain young people in the Springfield area after graduation from high school.

Jay Kitterman, consultant, LLCC Culinary Institute, wrote today’s Epicuriosity 101 column in the State Journal-Register entitled, “Team building in the kitchen.”

Chris McDonald, Ph.D., professor, political science, was interviewed by WICS/FOX-55 news on his “Tales from the Vault” presentation on WWI relics at the Illinois State Museum Research and Collections Center yesterday.

Dee Krueger, director, LLCC-Taylorville, was the guest on the April 25 WTIM Morning Talkshow. Dee discussed the upcoming job fair at LLCC-Taylorville, the new FORWARD and featured articles, and summer and fall class offerings at LLCC-Taylorville.

Mark Hardiman, professor of theatre, was interview by WTIM about the upcoming LLCC Theatre production of “I am Jeanne.” Performances run Thursday through Sunday, May 2-5 at 8 p.m. in the lower level of Sangamon Hall South.

Nancy Sweet, director of LLCC culinary programs and operations, wrote today’s Epicuriosity 101 column in the State Journal-Register entitled, “Picnics!”
