Domestic Violence Awareness Week of Action (and Jeans Day!)

The LLCC Community is invited to join the SAVE Taskforce to increase awareness, connect the LLCC community with resources and support survivors of domestic violence during the Week of Action in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Events will take place next week in A. Lincoln Commons.

  • Mon, Oct. 15, all day: “Pledge Day”
Read about ways you can help prevent intimate partner violence and support survivors, and then pledge to use the knowledge to be a part of  the change.
  • Tue, Oct. 16, all day: “Take a Stand Tuesday”
Symbolic of our refusal to be passive bystanders of intimate partner violence in our community, we will have at least one person “taking a stand” in A. Lincoln Commons from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Follow the instructions at the top of the “Take a Stand Tuesday” sheet to sign up for a time slot.
  • Wed, Oct. 17, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: “Silent Witness” with Sojourn Shelter and Services
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the local domestic violence shelter and service agency, Sojourn Shelter and Services, will host an exhibit that honors the lives of domestic violence victims and sheds light on their stories.
  • Thu, Oct. 18, all day: “Jeans Day Fundraiser”
Sponsored by the LLCC GSA, all proceeds will be donated to Sojourn Shelter and Services. For a minimum $5 donation, participants can wear jeans to work!
  • Fri, Oct. 19, all day: “Informational Table”
Throughout the day on Friday, educational materials and support resource information will be available for anyone to take. The table will be monitored, but will not be constantly staffed. This is intended to allow a safe opportunity for individuals to access information and resources if, for any reason, they are apprehensive about interacting with others on the topic.
