Diversity of School and Society class completes community project, “Kicking It for YMCA”

LLCC students from Dr. Taiebeh Hosseinali’s Diversity of School and Society class recently completed their community outreach/make a difference project, “Kicking It for YMCA.” The students collected outdoor play items for the YMCA summer camp and after school sites.

LLCC students collecting outdoor play equipment for YMCAStudents designed the project and were responsible for marketing and placing collection boxes at Rochester First Baptist, Silverleaf Children’s Academy in Rochester, Bank and Trust Company in Rochester and Hampton’s Inn. They collected sidewalk chalk, bubbles, Frisbees, balls and jump ropes. In addition, they raised over $200 in cash that they used to purchase a volleyball and badminton net and an assortment of outdoor play equipment.
