Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the college’s founding Feb. 18

50th blackLLCC is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its founding this Saturday, Feb. 18, beginning at 1 p.m. in the Student Union. All faculty and staff (and guests) are cordially invited! Click on your invitation (left) and RSVP at 786.2577 or email amy.flynn@llcc.edu.

The one-hour ceremony features music by the LLCC Big Band and speakers Craig Findley, chair, LLCC Board of Trustees; Dr. Charlotte Warren, president; Dr. Robert Poorman, founding president; Bill Craig, founding faculty member; and Brandon Lewis, current student trustee. Eldon Greenwood, founding trustee, and Bill Ames, first LLCC student, will be recognized.

A 25th anniversary time capsule will be opened and new items added by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. The new 50th anniversary book “50 Forward!” will be on sale with a signing by the author, Dr. Betty Kyger Workman.

Following the ceremony, visit “Forward: An Anniversary Exhibition” in the James S. Murray Gallery. Refreshments will be served.

Women’s and men’s homecoming basketball games begin at 1 and 3 p.m. in Cass Gym. The LLCC Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2017 will be introduced during halftime of the men’s game at approximately 3:30 p.m.
