LLCC Recital Series features Melinda Pitt Kaye Sunday in “Café Diem”

portrait of Melinda Pitt KayeMelinda Pitt Kaye, adjunct instructor of music, will perform “Café Diem: Retro/Modern Bistro” in the LLCC Recital Series this Sunday, Jan. 31 at 4 p.m. in the Trutter Center. The recital is free and open to the public.

Ms. Kaye will be joined by colleagues Jane Hartman on piano and accordion and Theresa O’Hare on flute. Jason Waddell will also accompany on guitar as well as Gene Haas, bass; Becky Waddell, saxophone; and Troy Roark, drums. The program will feature Klezmer, Spanish, French and Latino music, as well as more traditional pieces.

Ms. Kaye, recent winner of the Outstanding Adjunct Instructor Award at LLCC, has taught music at the college since 1992. She holds a bachelor of music degree from Millikin University, a master of music degree from Southern Methodist University and a master of arts degree in community arts management from the University of Illinois Springfield. In addition to her teaching, she has directed major musical productions and performed in theatrical and opera productions.

All performances are held Sundays at 4 p.m. in the Trutter Center on the LLCC-Springfield campus, and are free and open to the public.
