LLCC Library to host “Food for Fines” campaign to benefit Central Illinois Food Bank

The LLCC Library will kick off a “Food for Fines” campaign during National Library Week, April 12-18 and continuing throughout the spring semester. LLCC will donate all collections to the Central Illinois Food Bank. Hy-Vee groceries will match up to $500 worth of items collected.

Food for Fines allows students, faculty and staff to pay off fines or fees on their library account by donating non-perishable items for the Central Illinois Food Bank. For each item donated, individuals will receive $5 off of their total fines.

Suggested items include canned meat, fruit, vegetables and pasta sauce; chili, beef stew and other soups; cereal, pasta, rice and macaroni and cheese; boxed meals and peanut butter; along with non-grocery items such as soap, toilet paper and diapers.
