LLCC Beardstown hosted SOBERFEST May 2; blood drive planned May 8, 9-1

LLCC students and staff attended the event where they experienced hands-on activities and lectures to educate them on the dangers of drunk driving.  George Murphy of M.A.D.D., Officer Chris Baer of the Beardstown Police Department, and Brian Becker of the Beardstown Fire Department were the guest speakers.  There were several vendors and a bake sale.  Beardstown SoberfestThe highlight of the day was the Drunk Driving simulation.  For this simulation, the Jacksonville Police Department brought a golf cart and goggles that simulated the vision of someone with a 0.1 blood alcohol level.  Students wore the goggles and attempted to drive the cart through course made up of orange cones.
