LLCC holds job fair for laid-off miners

LLCC-Litchfield hosted a job fair for laid-off miners from the Crowne III mine on Jan. 15. Bob Howard, director of truck driver training, was interviewed by the SJ-R for this story, Laid off miners look to the future.  The story was also picked up by the Associate Press and appeared in the Philadelphia Centre Daily Times, Seatle-Tacoma Bellingham Herald, Miami Herald, Belleville News-Democrat, Greenville-Spartanburg Fort Mills Times, Lexington Herald Star, Columbia’s The State, Myrtle Beach Sun News, Boise’s Idaho Statesman, Macon Telegraph, Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, Anchorage Daily News, Biloxi Sun Herald, and in the online publication All Voices.

Participating in the job fair in addition to Bob were Leslie Johnson, director, LLCC-Litchfield/Hillsboro; Mac Warren, assistant director, recruitment and response; Dave Pietrzak, aviation specialist; Roger Larkin, electrical distribution lineman program; and Steve Bryant, workforce specialist. State Representative Wayne Rosenthal, LLCC trustee, was also in attendance.
