2017 Master Teacher Finalists announced

Five faculty members have been named finalists for the 2017 Drs. Raymond and Ann Pearson Master Teacher Award.  They are:

  • Diana Coffman, Professor, Biology
  • Mark Hardiman, Professor, Theatre
  • Beth Hoffmann, Professor, Communication
  • Natasha Trame, Associate Professor, Psychology
  • Beth Wiediger, Professor, Psychology

One of these individuals will be named the award recipient at the annual faculty and staff recognition ceremony on Thursday, May 11, in the Student Union.  The Pearson award annually recognizes a full-time faculty member for his or her exceptional contributions to student learning.

Last day to purchase raffle tickets for the annual Phi Theta Kappa Parking Spot Raffle!

Today is the last day to purchase raffle tickets for the annual Phi Theta Kappa Parking Spot Raffle!   The parking spot, marked by the sign “Reserved for Phi Theta Kappa Winner,” is located right next to Menard Hall, where all the 10-minute parking spots are located.  The winner will be able to park in very convenient spot for one year beginning Monday April 3.  Students will be selling the tickets today from 10 am – 1 pm in A. Lincoln Commons (under the banners).  Tickets cost $1 each or 6 for $5.  The winning ticket will be drawn at 3 p.m.  This is the only fundraiser for LLCC’s Five Star Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.  Thanks in advance for your support!

Happening Today

Today is the last day to submit Distinguished Service Award nominations.  The award is presented to LLCC employees who demonstrate exemplary leadership, promote a learner-centered environment and promote service to the college community. Awards will be announced at the 2017 Employee Recognition and Appreciation Ceremony.

LLCC’s production of Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” begins tonight, Friday, March 31 with another performance tomorrow, Saturday, April 1. The production is being held in the Trutter Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

This year’s performance features a pre-show called “Cis-iety Interrupted,” with original monologues from LLCC students and faculty and Springfield community members. The pre-show begins at 7 p.m. followed by “The Vagina Monologues” at 8 pm. The production includes adult themes and language.

Tickets are $10 and are available at the door or in the ticket office in Menard Hall. More information on LLCC’s production is available from Dr. Deborah Brothers, professor of English, at 786.4966 or deborah.brothers@llcc.edu.

Outstanding Graduate nominations due April 5

The office of the Vice President of Student Services is seeking nominations for Outstanding Graduate for Commencement 2017.  If you would like to nominate a graduate, instructions and an application for nomination is attached (below) along with a listing of students who have applied for graduation.  Please complete and return to Gailyn Draper, Menard Hall, room 1255, no later than noon on Wednesday, April 5.  Nominees must have completed graduation requirements at the end of the summer term of 2016, fall semester 2016, or be candidates for graduation at the end of spring semester 2017 or summer term 2017.

NOTICE REGARDING END OF THE MONTH DEPOSITS

The deadline to submit your deposits to the Finance Department is TODAY, MARCH 30TH AT NOON!  As a reminder, if you’ve taken in funds, it is necessary to submit them and corresponding deposit slips to the Finance Department on a daily basis.

Please hand the deposit to Elyse Calhoun, Libby Elder or Robin Ackman as monies should not be left unattended.

LEAGUE – It’s Game On!

Thanks so much to all who attended and took part in the fun and games at Tuesday’s LEAGUE kickoff!  What a great day for our students with gifts and pledges of support totaling more than $38,000!  On behalf of students like Mary Kate Curtin – a scholarship recipient – who spoke at the luncheon, thank you for all you do for our students and for your very generous support.

Stop by the Foundation by 5 p.m. this Friday for the following:

  • Donate to LEAGUE choosing payroll deduction and your name will be entered into a drawing for the first $150 cash giveaway (thanks to members of the Cabinet for donating the prize money)!
    2017 Enrollment Form.
  • Purchase 50/50 tickets for a chance to win cash (approximately $150 so far). Tickets are $1 each, $5 for 6, or $10 for 18.
  • Vote for your favorite decorated office door in the LEAGUE Door Decorating Contest or email your vote to Barbara.Eades@llcc.edu. The winner will receive a jeans day in May.
