A Financial Aid Certification Program seminar is being held Wednesday, Nov. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Montgomery Hall 1143/1144 by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). The formalized annual certification series gives professionals a detailed understanding of financial aid programs and systems. All sessions are offered at NO COST to staff, counselors, mentors and members of the general public.

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is holding its annual Parking Spot Raffle this week! The winner receives exclusive use of the Phi Theta Kappa Reserved Parking Spot (located on the east side of Menard Hall) for the remainder of the 2014-2015 academic year. Raffle tickets will be sold in the A. Lincoln Commons from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24. Tickets cost $1 each or 6 for $5. The first 100 people to purchase at least one ticket will also receive a Breast Cancer Awareness wristband. Click on the sign to the right to see more details. The Office of Placement and Testing will be closed today, September 4th. The staff will be attending the National College Testing Association virtual conference. There are several topics of great interest such as “Inevitable Cheating Incidents and How to Combat Them” as well as “Ten Years of Test Security: The Road Traveled and the Road Ahead”. The third and final session of College for Kids on the Springfield campus will be held 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Students will begin each day in the Trutter Center, break out to classrooms all over campus, and return to the Trutter Center for closing so please use extra caution, especially driving.
A Radiography Information Session will take place on Monday evening at 6:30 p.m.
A Blood Drive will be held in the Student Union, Menard Hall on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The July Board of Trustees meeting is Wednesday at 5 p.m.
On Thursday, from 9 to 11 a.m., a Rapid Registration event will be held in Menard Hall, 1173 to help current students get registered for Fall classes. Also, at 1 p.m. a New Student Orientation will begin in the R.H. Stephens Room.
Please remind students that they need to apply for graduation (it’s not automatic) … and if they also would like to walk in commencement, the first chance to purchase regalia is at GradFest Wednesday and Thursday this week. This event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the A. Lincoln Commons on the main campus and at all ESA’s. After Thursday, regalia may be purchased from the Bookstore. The only cost for commencement is $20, which includes cap/gown/tassel and 10 complimentary announcements. Please encourage students to celebrate their achievements!

Nominees must have completed graduation requirements at the end of summer term 2013, fall semester 2013 or be candidates for graduation at the end of spring semester 2014 or summer term 2014. All nominated students need to have their speech ready to audition on Tuesday, April 8 in the R. H. Stephens Room.
