United Way employee campaign up in donations this year!

The LLCC United Way employee campaign raised $16,207 this year to assist members of the community in need. The United Way Committee thanks our 62 generous donors, and also those who participated in the LLCC-Jacksonville fundraiser, which raised $220 of that amount. Thank you also to Christi Hustedt and Student United Way for stuffing envelopes and providing goody bags for donors. And, congratulations again to our gift basket winners Vanessa Avery, Dr. Mark Roehrs, Cynthia Burger, Dave Sykes and Paula Luebbert.

Appreciatively,
United Way Committee

Lucky winners announced for LLCC United Way gift baskets!

These donors to the LLCC employee United Way campaign won gift baskets yesterday in a random drawing. Congratulations! Baskets were donated by members of the United Way Committee.

Cynthia Burger: Backyard BBQ, donated by Tiffany Andrews, Classified Staff
Dave Sykes: Art Party, donated by Greg Walbert, Professional Staff
Mark Roehrs: Jackpot of Cash, donated by Tara Walk, Faculty
Paula Luebbert: Chocolate and Wine Date Night, donated by Nicole Ralph, Administrative Staff
Vanessa Avery: Trader Joe’s Favorites, donated by Lynn Whalen, campaign coordinator

Totals for the campaign will be announced later this week. If you missed making a donation, you can still turn in your pledge form this week to your group representative.

Thank you to all of the donors!

Look what you could win, while helping others!

img_2235Here’s what you could win if you donate to LLCC’s United Way campaign! All donors are put in a drawing to win one of five gift baskets:

“Trader Joe’s Favorites,” “Jackpot of Cash,” “Backyard BBQ,” “Art Party for 2” and “Wine and Chocolate Date Night.”

Most importantly, here’s what Professional Staff representative Greg Walbert writes, “I hear the words that Andrew Dewey shared in the luncheon keynote on Professional Development Day… (paraphrasing) “you never know the situation or circumstances the persons here in the classrooms and in the hallways are having to deal with.” It’s exciting and inspirational to know there are individuals working hard, here at LLCC, to make a positive difference for them. There are individuals and organizations throughout the district also working hard to make a positive and life-changing difference in the lives of so many others all around us. We GET TO come alongside them and partner in that work.

Please consider extending the grace and generosity you have shown to those here, to those just a little outside your reach through the United Way. There is a generous spirit here at LLCC that is easy to be proud of.”

The LLCC United Way Campaign concludes tomorrow. Please return your pledge form to your group representative, or call them and they’ll get a form to you!

LLCC’s United Way campaign is underway … where does your contribution go?

Nicole Ralph, administrative staff representative on the United Way committee, also serves on a panel that determines how United Way campaign funds are distributed. She writes:

As we are all aware, the state budget situation has greatly affected higher education in Illinois.  Another area that has been dramatically affected by the state budget is our social service agency partners who play a vital role in providing immediate basic needs for the most vulnerable members of our local community, many of whom are our students. Donations to United Way go directly to our local community and can go a long way in helping to fill the gaps created by a lack of state funding. As a member of the panel that determines how United Way campaign funds will be distributed, I can attest that our dollars are going to amazing programs with proper fiscal due diligence in place. Any donations for these vital service agencies, great or small, would be helpful and appreciated!  And remember, your donation is tax deductible. You should have received information and the donation form in your interoffice mail.  If you did not receive anything, please let me or your representative know (Tara Walk, Faculty; Greg Walbert, Professional; Tiffany Andrews, Classified). You can also get more information and make your donation on Professional Development Day, Nov. 1.  We will have a table set up in Cass Gym during the luncheon.  Anyone who makes a donation during the campaign period goes into a drawing for one of five gift baskets.  Baskets will be on display at the luncheon.  Each donor will also receive a goody bag prepared and donated by LLCC’s Student United Way!

Thank you for your consideration!

LLCC campaign through United Way begins today!

LLCC’s campaign through United Way to give back to our community begins today and runs through Friday, Nov. 4. The college chooses to participate in this campaign to give employees a convenient way to help with the immediate needs of our friends and neighbors, as well as working toward positive change for the future.

uw-toddler2What makes gifts to United Way unique? You can designate your gift to one or more qualified 501(c)3 charitable organizations (see www.secaillinois.org for a list), or make an undesignated gift. An undesignated gift funds programs in Central Illinois addressing greatest needs. You don’t have to decide between helping children, seniors or individuals needing a warm meal and a place to stay. An investment in United Way improves our community by wrapping services around families and individuals by investing in programs aligned with Basic Needs, Education, Financial Stability and Health. Dedicated volunteers, with issue area specific expertise, evaluate local programs from United Way Community Partners and make sure your investment is making the greatest impact possible.

See how community volunteers are setting goals with measurable outcomes to help with immediate needs in the community while also impacting the future in this 2016 Campaign Video.

Please return your pledge forms, which were sent to your employee mailbox, to your employee representative by Nov. 4.

Thank you!
