LEAGUE Campaign Plans

All faculty and staff are invited to join the LEAGUE Committee on Tuesday, March 29. Adventure Awaits in our “Around the World” theme LEAGUE Kickoff event. The fun and festivities will start at 11:30 a.m. in the A. Lincoln Commons where travelers can pick up their passports, lunch ticket, and a free car wash, compliments of Car Wash City.

Those who make a donation to the LEAGUE Campaign will be eligible to receive the following promotional branded items.

$2 per pay – Luggage tag
$7 per pay – Socks
$10 per pay – Long sleeved t-shirt
$25 per pay or more – ¼ zip navy jacket

LEAGUE Campaign

Those who donate to the LEAGUE Campaign choose where to direct their gift. Options include the general scholarship fund, the Pay It Forward Emergency Assistance Fund for students with unanticipated financial constraints or LEAGUE grants, which support programs and projects at LLCC. One example includes a grant awarded to the culinary and hospitality arts program for updated technology and equipment for Bistro Verde.

Around the World. LEAGUE. Adventure Awaits. LLCC FoundationIt’s almost time for the kickoff of the annual faculty and staff giving campaign known as LEAGUE. LEAGUE is an acronym for Leaders Establishing Annual Gifts Underwriting Education.

The theme of this year’s LEAGUE campaign is Around the World … Adventure Awaits. The LEAGUE committee has been scouting out locations for the LEAGUE campaign kickoff on Tuesday, March 29. Lo and behold who did they run into on Monday but none other than LLCC’s mascot, Linc! Read the clue below and play “Where Around Campus Is Linc?” for a chance to win a prize.

There is still time to apply for LLCC Foundation scholarships for the upcoming 2022-2023 academic year, but the March 1 deadline is rapidly approaching! Please encourage students to complete our one online application for all available scholarships, and to check out our FAQs as well as personal essay and reference resources.

LLCC Foundation Board elects officers, welcomes five new members

The LLCC Foundation Board of Directors elected new officers, welcomed five new members and recognized outgoing board members at a recent meeting.

Jennifer Stice of Ashland was installed as board chair for 2022. Brett Jackson of Springfield was elected vice chair, and Kathy Dierkes of Springfield was elected treasurer.

The following are new members of the board:

Keith Bradbury of Jacksonville is a retired bank president who worked 35 years in the industry. He is a graduate of Illinois College and has served on numerous boards in Jacksonville and surrounding communities, including Jacksonville Memorial Hospital (formerly Passavant Area Hospital), Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, Regional Economic Development, Tri-County Development and LLCC-Jacksonville Community Partnership Group.

Alyce Grigsby Alyce Grigsby of Taylorville serves as the assistant state’s attorney for Christian County. Previously, she was an associate attorney at Brown, Hay + Stephens, LLP in Springfield. After graduating LLCC, she earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Illinois Springfield and a juris doctorate from Southern Illinois University.

Daniel Hamilton Daniel Hamilton of Springfield is a partner attorney with Brown, Hay + Stephens, LLP. Prior to practicing law, he worked in the Illinois General Assembly as a legislative analyst advising elected officials, drafting legislation and facilitating compromise in the legislative process.

Justin Knoedler Justin Knoedler of Springfield manages the business services department for Bank of Springfield and owns The Clubhouse, an indoor baseball and softball facility in Chatham. After attending LLCC and Miami University-Ohio, he pursued a career in professional baseball that spanned 10 years. He then spent seven years coaching at LLCC where he helped lead two teams to the NJCAA national tournament.

Michael MendenhallMichael Mendenhall, P.E., S.E., of Williamsville is an LLCC alum and senior structural engineer at Hanson Professional Services Inc. He serves as the project manager for the Springfield Rail Improvements Project and has provided engineering, planning and design for numerous bridges, structures and retaining walls across the United States.

Outgoing board members Ginny Fanning of Jacksonville, Ronda Folkerts of Springfield, Greg Marantz of Springfield, Kent Richardson of Taylorville and Erica Riplinger of Springfield were acknowledged for their dedicated service on behalf of LLCC students.

Help connect students with money for 2022-2023 LLCC classes! Encourage them to visit Michelle Burger, scholarship program coordinator, and Andrea DeRosa, financial aid advisor, today, Feb. 16, 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Workforce Careers Center lobby.

They can learn more about LLCC Foundation scholarships and FAFSA completion, start applications and ask questions about  the completion of current scholarship or FAFSA applications. Resources available will include: LLCC Foundation scholarship information and reference, personal essay and FAQ resources as well as FAFSA tips and guidance.
