Tickets available for Farmer’s Share Lunch March 3

The LLCC Agriculture Club is holding its annual Farmer’s Share Luncheon on Tuesday, March 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Trutter Center. The club is selling tickets for the catered meal from Turasky’s, which will include pulled pork or steakburger, green beans, potato salad, cookies and drinks.

Tickets are $.50 apiece, and can be purchased from LLCC Agriculture Club officers or by contacting club advisor Bill Harmon at 786-2573, or bill.harmon@llcc.edu. The cost represents the portion of the meal’s cost that actually goes back to the farmers who grew the food. The rest of the cost is for processing, marketing, transportation, etc.

Attendees will also get a chance to test their knowledge of agriculture by answering questions from the quizmaster to win some fabulous prizes! The event is open to anyone in the campus community as an educational activity for the club.

Thank you from PTK and GSA

PTK-GSA Inclusion Day display tablePhi Theta Kappa teamed up with the Gay-Straight Alliance this past Wednesday for Inclusion Day in which students spoke about the importance of inclusion and visibility of the LGBTQ+ community within academics, highlighting notable historical figures who were LGBTQ+. Along with the presentation and speeches that were given, students hosted a charity drive to collect donations for the Phoenix Center in downtown Springfield, a non-profit organization that hosts support groups and housing for LGBTQ+ youth and also organizes the annual PrideFest every May.

Donated items at Inclusion DayPTK and GSA would like to thank the many staff and faculty members that donated to the drive. In total, over 300 items were collected and taken to the Phoenix Center, including personal hygiene products, games, paints, canvasses, gift cards, cleaning supplies, etc. PTK hopes to continue this Inclusion Day in the future and is delighted by the support from staff and faculty and the student turn-out at the event.
