Dr. Chris McDonald, professor of political science, will be co-presenting a discussion, “Unraveling World Order,” tomorrow evening, 7-9 p.m., as part of the World Affairs Council series of “Great Decisions.” The session is free and open to the public and will be held at Grace Lutheran Church at 7th and Capitol in Springfield.

Zoolie Ghoulie is the annual Trick or Treat Event held at Henson Robinson Zoo.  This year the event took place on Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28.  The LLCC Child Development Center annually provides a treat station and was able to pass out information about our Preschool for All Expansion Program in addition to the treats for children.

Dr. Mark Roehrs, professor of history, and Dr. Chris McDonald, professor of political science, presented “How Are You Gonna Keep ’em Down on the Farm,” a discussion about the United State Soldier in World War I, on Oct. 28. The Pike County All Wars Museum and the Daughters of 1812 hosted the event.

Jacksonville Activities Board helps with campground work day

Photo of four students standing outside, in front of a brick building.Members of LLCC-Jacksonville’s student group, Jacksonville Activities Board (JAB), visited Green Pastures Campground outside Meredosia on Saturday, Oct. 7 to help with the campground work day. Students cleaned and organized rooms to prepare for the campground’s upcoming events. The students had a great time helping and enjoying lunch that was provided (even after finding a snake!).

LLCC-Taylorville was a sponsor of the 38th annual Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce Chillifest this past weekend, Oct. 7-8.  In addition to sponsoring the event, staff had an info table at the event and provided LLCC swag for each chili cook.

LLCC-Taylorville hosting Christian County CEO

LLCC-Taylorville is hosting a Christian County CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities) Etiquette Lunch tomorrow. Christian County CEO is similar to the Sangamon County CEO program and is comprised of high school seniors who are learning the basics of business. One of the goals is to prepare them for a business lunch and the proper way to deal with all the forks and spoons. They will also get tips on starting a conversation with strangers seated at the same table. Lesa Schaive, LLCC Community Education instructor, will be the leader for the lunch and program.
