Bill Harmon, professor of agronomy, spoke on how China’s tariffs could affect pork exports in Illinois during an interview April 2 with WCIA.

Nancy Sweet, director of culinary program and operations, is the author of this week’s Epicuriosity 101 column in the State-Journal Register, “Vegetable focused cooking.”

LLCC 2014 commencement speaker Andrew Dewey was the subject of this front page story in the State Journal-Register April 3, in which he described his successful climb from drug addiction to graduating from LLCC and UIS and soon earning a master’s degree in counseling. Former LLCC-Jacksonville Executive Director Jan Terry is quoted in the story.

Community College Daily, a national publication produced by  the American Association of Community Colleges, reported on the LLCC agriculture program being the beneficiary of annual earnings from the $18 million Kreher Farm Perpetual Charitable Trust.

Dee Krueger, director, LLCC-Taylorville, was interviewed on WTIM radio March 29. She discussed the update to the Taylorville welding lab, summer and fall classes being offered at LLCC-Taylorville and College NOW important dates and new student orientations. An article with cuts from the interview appeared on taylorvilledailynews.com.

Kevin Lust, director, Illinois Small Business Development Center at LLCC, is featured in the article “ISBDC: Just Call Kevin” in the current edition of SO (Springfield’s Own) magazine.

In the news

Bill Harmon, agriculture program coordinator, was interviewed by WLDS radio March 23 regarding the $18 million gift benefiting the ag program. Parts of the interview were used in a news story that day and the entire interview will be aired today.

Bill also wrote the LLCC essay for the State Journal-Register Sunday, March 25 entitled, “A gift today for the benefit of tomorrow.”

Jolene Adams, coordinator, LLCC Culinary Institute, was interviewed on WTIM’s morning talk show on Thursday, March 1.  She discussed community education culinary classes, College for Kids and the student run Bistro Verde.
