  • The health fair is open from 8 a.m. to noon today in Cass Gym.
  • Meet with over 20 vendors from the Springfield community.
  • Don’t forget to schedule your massage and/or breathwork activity for today.
  • Tips encouraged for massage therapy appointments.

Health & Wellness Fair

Below are some of the highlights faculty and staff can look forward to at the LLCC Employee Health & Wellness Fair being held on Oct. 18 from 8 a.m. to noon in Cass Gym.

Among the exhibits and activities, the fair will include these LLCC services:

  • SISCO, Cottingham & Butler, Deer Oaks EAP Services and VALIC will be present to answer benefit questions regarding services offered to LLCC employees.
  • An LLCC Culinary student accompanied by instructor Jan Dowell sharing samples of tasty creations and nutrition facts.
  • LLCCPD with haunted house information and details.
  • Plus take a tour of the fitness center!

Wellness screening and flu shots

The second of two onsite wellness screening and flu shot clinics will be held Wednesday, Oct. 18. All benefit-eligible employees may participate, and for completing the wellness screening and health risk assessment, will receive a $50 Visa gift card!

All benefit-eligible employees who sign up for a wellness screening and/or flu shot may do so at no cost to the employee — whether you are enrolled in a LLCC health insurance plan or decline our health insurance coverage. However, only spouses who are enrolled in a LLCC health insurance plan may participate at no cost.

Wear pink to support breast cancer awareness and research

Pink October @LLCC. Pink ribbonOctober is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Join your colleagues in participating in LLCC’s Wear It Pink Day on Oct. 20 in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

If you wear pink on Oct. 20, we’d like to share with the LLCC community that we support those past and present who have dealt with this diagnosis.

Health & Wellness Fair coming up on Oct. 18

One of the features of the LLCC Employee Health & Wellness Fair being held on Oct. 18 from 8 a.m. to noon will be massage therapy and breathwork activities. Scheduling will open on Monday, Oct. 16.

Massages

10-minute chair massages will be provided from 8 a.m. to noon courtesy of Inner Health Spa. Appointments are required and tips encouraged.

9D Breathwork

Participate in a quick and powerful tool to supercharge your day. With just five minutes, you can experience:

  • A profound shift in energy, clarity and focus.
  • Take a journey through the breath, quieting the mind and activating the body.
  • A renewed sense of self awareness and fresh perspective on your day.
  • An opportunity to connect with yourself, reset your emotional state and tap into your limitless potential.

Appointments encouraged but not required. Sessions are offered every 30 minutes and provided by MKSports Massage.

Today’s World Mental Health Day activities for employees

Today, Oct. 10, is World Mental Health Day. In support of this observance, employees will be able to participate in the following activities:

  • A Walk the Walk event at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Participants can meet in front of Cass Gym. This event is designed for employees to participate in two 10-minute walks (10 a.m. and 2 p.m.) or a longer walk at 12:30 p.m. In addition, employees will be offered the opportunity to connect with other staff during this time.
  • Mindfulness practice at 1:45 p.m., 2:45 p.m. or 3:45 p.m. in the Trutter Center. This event is designed to provide an example of mindfulness practice for employees to assist with stress reduction. The exercise will last no more than 10 minutes and follow-up information will be made available.
  • A resource table featuring the wellness wagon from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in the Trutter Center. The table will be available to share information pertaining to mental well-being tips and strategies to maintain and/or improve mental health.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month: Every1KnowsSome1

This year’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month theme is Every1KnowsSome1, which means domestic violence impacts everyone in our community. During October, we will be hosting events and sharing information to help you learn more about domestic violence and who it affects, pledge to end domestic violence and provide opportunities to support survivors.

Pledge to End Domestic Violence

Online and virtual pledges will be available. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to volunteer for our Take a Stand event on Thursday, Oct. 12 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
