Responsible Employee training

Do you know what to do if you become aware of a student who is experiencing sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking or sexual harassment? Sign up for an upcoming Responsible Employee training to learn about how to respond to disclosures in a supportive, trauma-informed way; legal mandates and your reporting responsibilities; and LLCC’s reporting and support options.

Three sessions are available between now and the beginning of fall semester, including:

  • July 15 at 11 a.m.
  • Aug. 9 at 3 p.m.
  • Aug. 11 at 10 a.m.

Registration for this morning’s Responsible Employee training session will remain open until 10 a.m. If you have never attended a Responsible Employee training or want a refresher, be sure to sign up using the registration form. This form may also be used to express interest in scheduling a Responsible Employee training for your department. Recordings of Microsoft 365 accessibility training available

Recordings of last week’s Microsoft 365 accessibility presentations are now available via Stream. You can learn more about how people use Microsoft settings and applications to access the information we prepare. The three sessions addressed hearing, low vision and neurodiversity, and their objectives were:

  • Learning how to set up and navigate the settings within Windows 10, Office Desktop applications and Teams.
  • Customizing elements of an operating system and Office applications
  • Coming away with the ability to tailor the Windows and Office experience through the understanding of the integrated features for inclusivity
  • Learning how assistive technology can empower how people communicate, learn and experience the world

Kahoot! EDU Summit June 16-17

The Kahoot! EDU Summit, which begins today at 11 a.m., is a free virtual professional development event that shares information and tips on how to prepare a future-proof toolkit for coming back to the classroom. Sessions are designed for teachers of all levels, technology specialists and school leaders. Recordings of the sessions will be available to those who register.

Asia Rising: Domestic & Global Consequences

Midwest Institute for International/Intercultural EducationThe Midwest Institute for International/Intercultural Education is offering a free virtual workshop “Asia Rising: Domestic & Global Consequences” on Friday, May 28, 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. (CDT). In addition to the workshop, 12 $1,000 stipends to develop 12 curriculum modules related to the areas of East Asia, South Asia or Southeast Asia will be available. FSI Conference, May 19

There is still time to register for this year’s annual FSI: At the Intersection of Teaching, Learning, and Technology Conference, “Rebooting Students’ Experiences,” which will be held Wednesday, May 19. The event will be held virtually through Zoom. There will be presentations, networking and hands-on training on the use of modern communication and information technologies in education. Registrants may choose to focus on one track or participate in any session in any track: Post-Pandemic Strategies, Inclusive Teaching, Care and Community, and Teaching Tools. The conference brings educators and instructional-technology professionals together from across Illinois and as far away as Canada. This year’s conference features a presentation, “Ch-Ch-Changes: Innovation, Flipping, Empathy and Community,” from LLCC’s very own Laurie Lewis-Fritz, instructor of music.
