LLCC-Jacksonville to host financial aid events

LLCC-Jacksonville, 32 N. Central Park Plaza, will host upcoming events to assist high school seniors and their parents/guardians in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Events are scheduled for Oct. 12, Nov. 16 and Dec. 7 from 3-7 p.m.

An online registration form and more information on documents to bring to the event are available at www.llcc.edu/jacksonville. Registration is also available by calling 217-243-6699.

Current LLCC students who will be attending college next year are invited to attend as well. Prospective students may also take a tour of the facilities and get assistance with enrollment steps.

LLCC-Jacksonville invites high school students to College Now information sessions

High school juniors and seniors and their parents/guardians are invited to attend upcoming information sessions on LLCC’s spring 2023 College Now program. The sessions will be held at Jacksonville High School, 1211 North Diamond St., on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 5:30-6 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 6 at 5:15-5:45 p.m.

College Now allows high school students who are at least 16 years old and in good academic standing to earn college credit by taking afternoon classes at LLCC-Jacksonville during their normal school day.

New mural at LLCC-Jacksonville honors Dr. Alonzo Kenniebrew

Mural on side of LLCC Jacksonville honoring Dr. Alonzo KenniebrewA new mural commissioned by Jacksonville Main Street has been installed on the side of LLCC-Jacksonville, 32 N. Central Park Plaza. The mural honors Dr. Alonzo H. Kenniebrew, the first African American to own and operate a hospital in the U.S. He ran New Home Sanitarium in Jacksonville for nearly 20 years in the early 1900s. Jacksonville faculty focus session — Accessibility Services

LLCC-Jacksonville

Students using LLCC Accessibility Services present with a tremendous variance of abilities and challenges in the academic setting. The role of LLCC Accessibility Services is to provide accommodations and supports that allow equal access to course content, course expectations and the classroom environment. In this session, we will present an overview of types of disabilities, accommodations and helpful classroom strategies, with a specific emphasis on hearing and visual impairment.

LLCC-Jacksonville’s Traveling Theatre peforms June 1,2

LLCC-Jacksonville’s Traveling Theatre is preparing the final show of the semester!  “Breakin’ Through and Bleedin’ Blue, the story of Triopia” will be performed at Arenzville Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 1 and at the Chapin Christian Church on Thursday, June 2.   The performances begin at 7 p.m.   $10 tickets are available by calling the Triopia school office at 457-2281. A free-will donation dinner prior to the shows at 6 p.m.

The 2016 class has done 24 performances for audiences that have totaled in the thousands.  Last fall, they toured 16 different elementary schools with their “Super Hero play and two weeks ago, they performed “A Road Trip Through Time” for two nights of sold-out audiences in Jacksonville.  In addition, these actors have worked with Triopia’s fourth grade class and Trinity Lutheran classes, guiding them through instruction in improvisational theatre.
