Meet the Fall 2020 TutorsThe LLCC Center for Academic Success offers free, live remote peer tutoring for LLCC students. Subjects covered include BIO, CHE, CPC/CSC, DGM, ECO, EGL, MAT, PSY and more.

The hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students can call 217-786-2396 or email cas@llcc.edu to schedule an appointment or get further information.

Jolene Lamb, coordinator, LLCC Culinary Institute, was videoed Aug. 28 by WICS demonstrating the preparation of two recipes: zucchini fritters, which will air on Sept. 3, and summer succotash on Sept. 10. The segments will be between 5-7 a.m. in the morning and again 11:30 a.m-noon.

Kevin Lust, director, Illinois Small Business Development Center at LLCC, presented in the webinar “Economic Disparities and Opportunities” on Aug. 28 as part of 217 Black Business Month. A program announcement was featured in the State Journal-Register and covered by WTAX.

Dominic LoGrasso, LLCC peer tutor, began tutoring for the LLCC Center for Academic Success in January 2020. Over the summer, he wrote an article entitled, “What I Learned from Working as a Peer Tutor.” He was inspired to write the article when an Accudemia developer at the Engineerica company asked tutors to write about what they have learned from their tutoring experience. Dominic’s article was selected by the Accudemia team and published on the Engineerica website.

Center for Academic Success offers virtual assistance to summer 2020 students

The LLCC Center for Academic Success is offering a variety of virtual services to summer 2020 students. Academic success professionals are available online to provide tutoring and study skills assistance. Students may schedule a Zoom appointment by calling 217-786-2396 or by sending an email to cas@llcc.edu. LLCC Math Center and Writing Center faculty also are available to provide assistance to students through Zoom. Hours of operation and specific instructions on how to access the Zoom rooms can be found at www.llcc.edu/math-center and www.llcc.edu/writing-center.
