Jan Terry, executive director at LLCC-Jacksonville, received the following letter from the parent of an LLCC student who nominated LLCC-J for a special award.
I recently attended the 2014 Illinois Statewide Transition Conference in Springfield and nominated LLCC for an award:
I want to vote for Lincoln Land Community College campus in Jacksonville, Ill. My son has High Functioning Autism and this is his third semester there. The staff are helpful, kind and friendly to him. They demonstrate true concern and tolerance towards him. If it wasn’t for their Special Needs program, he would not be in his third semester. I am sure they are this way with all of their special needs students. Mrs. Jan Terry is the Jacksonville Campus Director and Ms. Linda Chriswell is the Director of the Special Needs Department for all of the Lincoln Land Community College Schools.
I am happy to say you won. I have the plaque as they gave it to me at the conference but the name plate that goes with it will be mailed to you. I will get the plaque to you as soon as possible. Congratulations!
Thank you for all that you and your staff do to help Quentin.
LLCC-Beardstown celebrated Multicultural Fest last week. Students from more than 10 countries celebrated their heritage. Students modeled their native clothing, displayed accessories and created posters with information about their homeland. Students also provided entertainment, which was followed by a potluck containing a wide variety of homemade food provided by students, faculty and staff. See photos HERE.
Students from LLCC-Beardstown entered a clown truck and walked in the annual Chamber of Commerce’s Fall Fun Festival parade Saturday. The event theme was “Clowning Around in Beardstown.” The LLCC tent operated by students and staff both Saturday and Sunday provided activities, prizes and information about LLCC.

As part of the phone system upgrade project, it is necessary to port the current phone numbers from the old phone lines to the new ones in Jacksonville and Beardstown on Wednesday, July 2 starting at 8 a.m. We expect to experience phone service outages during this time in those locations. We are not sure how long the phone service outages will last at this time.
