LLCC-Litchfield celebrated the college’s 50th anniversary with a Litchfield and Hillsboro Chambers of Commerce After Hours event Wednesday evening. A special presentation included remarks by LLCC President Dr. Charlotte Warren, who introduced LLCC Board Chair Dennis Shackelford and Board Secretary Ken Elmore, and proclamation presentations by City of Litchfield Mayor Steve Dougherty and Hillsboro City Councilman Don Downs on behalf of Hillsboro Mayor Brian Sullivan. A special guest was Dorothy Mansholt, former Litchfield mayor who participating in the groundbreaking for the Litchfield facility in the early 1990s.

Attendees at last Saturday’s 11th annual LLCC Foundation Gala “MadParty” walked into a late 1960s atmosphere and a gorgeously decorated Student Union. Culinary students prepared and served a delicious gourmet dinner, the LLCC Big Band provided music, and guests enjoyed a silent and live auction, wall of wines and dancing, with all proceeds benefiting LLCC students. A 50th anniversary event will be held at LLCC-Litchfield this evening from 5-7 p.m., with a special presentation at 5:15 p.m. The event will be held in the Charles Long Auditorium, Fine Arts and Technology Building, #1 Lincoln Land Drive, Litchfield

LLCC-Litchfield is hosting a Business After Hours event with the Litchfield and Hillsboro Chambers of Commerce as part of LLCC’s 50th anniversary events. A special presentation includes remarks by LLCC President Dr. Charlotte Warren and proclamation presentations by City of Litchfield Mayor Steve Dougherty and City of Hillsboro Commissioner of Streets and Public Improvements Don Downs on behalf of Hillsboro Mayor Brian Sullivan.

“Forward: An Anniversary Exhibition,” featuring 50 years of photos and history of LLCC, also will be on display.

LLCC-Jacksonville celebrated the college’s 50th anniversary Friday, May 5 with a Chamber Business After Hours, LLCC historic display, art exhibit and presentation with speakers Craig Findley, immediate past LLCC Board of Trustees chair and current trustee; Dr. Charlotte Warren, LLCC president; and Jacksonville Mayor Andy Ezard, who presented a resolution from the city honoring the college.

Upcoming 50th anniversary observances include: LLCC-Litchfield, this evening from 5-7 p.m.; LLCC-Beardstown, Wednesday, May 17, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.; and LLCC-Taylorville, Tuesday, May 23 during an advisory committee meeting.(The original event at LLCC-Taylorville scheduled for April 29 was cancelled due to inclement weather.)
