Kirk YenerallKirk Yenerall, professor of mathematics, was recently named a 2024 Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty Award winner by the American Association of Community Colleges at their annual conference in Louisville.

Congratulations to Professor Yenerall on the award that recognizes the difference he is making in the classroom and his support of LLCC students.

Thanks for academic calendar feedback

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the academic calendars (too many to mention!). We appreciate your corrections, insights and suggestions. Next, the proposed calendars go to CAS and Faculty Senate for review and discussion.

Faculty and staff can nominate a deserving colleague by submitting the KUDOS form (also available by clicking on the KUDOS tab in the upper-right corner of LincIn). Please use a Chrome or Firefox browser when completing this form. The KUDOS awards will be announced Friday, May 10.

Join the LLCC Team at the Springfield Heart and Stroke Walk

Join the LLCC Has Heart Team, or start your own for the Springfield Heart and Stroke Walk on June 9. The event takes place at Erin’s Pavilion. Registration begins at 1 p.m., the walk starts at 1:30 p.m.

The Springfield Heart and Stroke Walk is a one or two mile fun walk. There is something for every member of the family: a fruit bar, balloon animals for kids, CPR basics and a warm-up with a WERQ instructor. The Heart and Stroke Walk benefits the American Heart Association.

NDT students showcasing poster displays today

Last week, we celebrated NDT week, and the theme was “Evolving Together, Advocating for the Future of NDT.” Stop by the A. Lincoln Commons area today between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to see what our students created to promote neurodiagnostic awareness.

LLCC and Lanphier Beehive Co-op

A new beehive box painted by Lanphier High School Art Club.The LLCC Apiary has a new beehive sponsored by Lanphier High School. The Lanphier Art Club recently painted a beehive that will be put into use this spring. The new hive is a collaboration between LLCC’s Biology Professor David Cox and the Lanphier Science Department. Professor Cox will share data on the hive with Lanphier science classes. Lanphier dual-credit biology students will visit the hive once a year to see the bees, collect data and harvest honey.
